Ruminate Happenings Fundraiser

What is Ruminate Happenings?

Well, Ruminate isn't an ordinary nonprofit, so of course we couldn't host just an ordinary fundraiser. Inspired by the “happenings” of the 1960s, where people showed up and made good things together, we decided to create our own version of this goodness!

Each spring we take an amazing leap of faith and bring together our readers, writers and artists in a beautiful way. Pre-order your ticket today and save over 60% off from our week of prices.

This past March 6-13, 2021 our brave writers and artists went live on Instagram to spontaneously create poetry, art, little stories, and small essays for our community. Folks purchased a ticket with a writer or artist, and in exchange they recieved an original creation as part of a whole digital journal in celebration of this event. To encourage connection with our contributors, ticket holders were asked to fill out prompts to inspire their artist/writer.

We also invite you to join us on Instagram to watch the creations being made. It is a wild ride, and we're so excited to have you join us on this adventure!

Please check out all of the videos on our IGTV page below!  If you can't access your video, please let us know so we can get it to you.

A note on Ruminate Happenings

A few years back, our founder, Brianna Van Dyke told us about a conference that she had attended where Marie Howe described an event she helped plan and host called The Poet Is In. Poets set up tables with typewriters in Grand Central Station and invited the public to come and have a poem written for them, "with them," as she said. Marie shared how the poet would ask questions of the person, questions like, "Tell me a dream you've had more than once. Tell me about a toy you used to love." And then "the poet would take this and transform what the poet heard using language and silence and musicality. Take it and transform it, type it out, and then read it to the person. It was their own lives, given back, if you will."

Our contributors want to take your narrative and as Marie Howe said, "transform it, type it out, and then read it [back].
