After many requests from our submitters, Ruminate Magazine is pleased to offer the opportunity to work with the Ruminate staff and receive personalized critique and feedback on your writing, which can be a piece or pieces previously submitted to Ruminate or new work. The writing workshops are online workshops done via email. Registration is open year-round. Creative nonfiction & fiction critique workshops:

Poetry critique workshops:
- Led by Ruminate’s poetry editor Stephanie Lovegrove
- Single poetry critique sessions may include up to 120 lines of poetry

- One-on-one correspondence and response from a Ruminate editor
- Includes one personalized critique regarding one fiction or nonfiction piece (up to 8,000 words) or 120 lines of poetry

Single Workshop
- Will take place via email correspondence with Ruminate editor over the course of three weeks
- One-on-one correspondence and response from a Ruminate editor
- Workshop one fiction or nonfiction piece (up to 8,000 words) or 120 lines of poetry
- Receive three detailed critiques
- Receive closing thoughts and comments
Double Workshop
- Will take place via email correspondence with Ruminate editor over the course of five weeks
- One-on-one correspondence and responses from a Ruminate editor
- Workshop two fiction or nonfiction pieces (up to 16,000 words) or 240 lines of poetry
- Receive six detailed critiques
- Receive closing thoughts and comments
Classic Workshop
- Will take place via email correspondence with Ruminate editor over the course of five weeks
- One-on-one correspondence and responses from a Ruminate editor
- Workshop three fiction or nonfiction pieces (up to 24,000 words) or 360 lines of poetry
- Receive nine detailed critiques
- Receive closing thoughts and comments
Amy Lowe has served as senior editor and co-founder for Ruminate Magazine since 2006. She graduated from the University of Memphis with a degree in Political Science and International Relations and then went on to get a master's in English Literature. Amy has helped edit and select work in Ruminate that has gone on to receive awards and recognition in anthologies such as The Best American Short Stories. Most recently, she was involved in editing the book and short films Chaos-to-Connection: 9 Heart-Centered Essentials for Parenting Your Teen, and found that she loved film editing. Amy lives in Fort Collins, Colorado, and has two beautiful children, a very patient husband, and a passion for peace, reconciliation, and telling people's stories, especially those that aren't often told.
Stephanie Lovegrove has served as poetry editor for Ruminate Magazine since 2007. She has worked for various presses and literary journals for eight years, and holds degrees in English (with a focus on creative writing), classics, and linguistics. She has been involved in a great number of poetry workshops, and founded the Living Poets Society Poetry Bookclub in Boulder, Colorado. She currently lives in Charlottesville, Virginia, where she works in marketing for the University of Virginia Press and is a freelance copyeditor. Her poetry and nonfiction have appeared in numerous literary magazines and anthologies, including Ruminate's Issue #04.
