Ruminate in Seattle this Month!

Are you going to the AWP conference this month? Or do you live in the area?

If so, come say hello to us–we would love to meet you! We’ll be at the Ruminate table (T14) at the AWP Bookfair. The Bookfair–a huge gathering of over 500 small presses and literary magazines–will be open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00p.m. on Thursday, February 27th  through Saturday, March 1st (and open to the general public on Saturday). You’ll find our smiling faces there, and you can also buy discounted copies of the magazine and Ruminate goodies!

Here are some of the events we have going on…


Reception and Reading with Ruminate, WordFarm, and Rock & Sling
Thursday 7:00 – 8:15 pm (open to the public)
AWP hotel reception with readings from Rock & Sling, Ruminate, and WordFarm authors, including David Brendan Hopes and Jay Kidd. Light snacks included. Located in the Kirkland Room.


Ruminate Author Signings
Friday from 10:30 – 11:30 am

Jay Kidd (first-place winner of the 2013 Poetry Prize)

Join us at the WordFarm & Friends 10-Year Anniversary Reading and Celebration
Friday from 9:00 – 12:00 pm (open to the public)
AWP offsite celebration at Hi-Spot Cafe (1410 34th Ave, Seattle, Washington 98122). Free appetizers, cash bar, and fast-paced poetry readings from WordFarm poets and friends, including many Ruminate contributors such as Benjamin Myers, Thom Caraway, Tania Runyan, Susanna Childress Banner, Marci Whiteman Johnson

Saturday from 10:30 – 11:30
(open to the public)
David Brendan Hopes (winner of the 2013 Short Story Prize) and Shann Ray (winner of the 2010 Short Story Prize).

Brianna Van Dyke is the founder and editor-in-chief of Ruminate. She loves Annie Dillard, the ocean, encouraging others, and barbeques along the Poudre River. Brianna lives in Fort Collins, Colorado, with her husband and their two children on a working CSA farm. She also enjoys leading retreats in the Ruminate Barn and taking retreats, too.
